Using a combination of field-based, genomic and molecular technologies, plant breeders work to develop new and improved varieties that are productive, profitable, and adapted to their, often changing, environment.

  1. Katrina Cornish named 2018 Innovator of the year

    Congratulations to Dr. Katrina Cornish for her recent award as innovator of the year.  Dr. Cornish is a Professor of Horticulture and Crop Sciences, Endowed Chair and Ohio Research Scholar for Bioemergent Materials, and Technical Director of Ohio State’s Program of Excellence in Natural Rubber Alternatives.

  2. ASTA Better Seed, Better Life Video Contest, 2nd Place Winner: Stephanie Karhoff

    Stephanie Karhoff (Ph.D. candidate, Translational Plant Sciences Graduate Program) was awarded second place for her "Better Seed, Better Life" video which features the importance of marker assisted selection in plant breeding.

    Join us for the first annual Pioneer Plant Science Symposium series being hosted by The Ohio State University (OSU).

    April 6 and 7 of 2018, in Wooster, Ohio, speakers from OSU, industry, and other leading institutions will be gathered to speak on the use of interdisciplinary approaches to increase profitability.
